Kiddy Stories and Crafts, Pay Your Bills and Celebrating the Assumption

Events occurring in Belmont on Thursday, Aug. 15.

1. Stories and crafts associated with author Mo Willems – you know, the Elephant and Piggy and the Pigeon series ("Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!) and the "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale" – will be presented with the help of the children's librarians at 10:30 p.m. in the Assembly Room of Belmont Public Library.

2. Indigo Fire at 60 Common St. is holding a fusing workshop for grown ups in which participants will make six-inch glass bowls. No experience necessary as the staff will teach how to nip glass, work with stringers, noodles, shards and the tools to make your own creation. Starts at 6 p.m. The cost is $40. Just show up. Feel free to bring wine or snacks. You must be 18 and older for this workshop

3. The Belmont School Department OnLine payments are due for following programs: Belmont High School's Fine and Performing Arts and Belmont High School fall athletics. You can pay online here.

 4. Insituform Technologies will be relining sewers and drains on Bacon and Chilton streets.

 5. Today is the celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven, or just The Assumption, when the Virgin Mary was taken into Heaven at the end of her life.
