This Week in Belmont: Opening on the School Committee, Hebert Off to Topsfield

News and events that occurred in Belmont in the past week.

Belmont School Committee member Pascha Griffiths resigned from the board due to "very important personal matters." School Committee chair Laurie Graham said the Committee and the Belmont Board of Selectmen will in the next week begin seeking letters of interest from residents who wish to fill the vacancy until the April Town Election.

Kellie Hebert, Belmont's Assistant Town Administrator was named Topsfield's new Town Administrator. Hebert was hired in 2011 and was named the town's interim Town Administrator for six months before David Kale was hired in 2012. 

Belmont is now under a moderate risk of residents contacting West Nile Virus after more infected mosquitos were found in town by the state Health Department. 

A pair of historic sites prepare for new futures: townhouses are going up on the former site of the Waverley Congregation Church and the final demolition of the turn-of-the-century house at 35 Clover as the land is being prepared for a new residential structure.

A real estate recovery continues as a trio of million dollar-plus homes were sold last week.
