Big Day at Belmont's Inaugural 'Artitude'
Art brings in the crowds to Cushing Square.
The crowds came all day on Saturday, Sept. 21, to a small segment of Common Street between Trapelo Road and Palfrey blocked off for art's sake.
A wide array artists and their works – painting, pottery, photographs, fabric, paper, mosaic and tiny clay sets – was out on the street for sale as part of the inaugural "Artitude: Art Makes Belmont Beautiful" event.
The artists ranged from the skilled amateur to professional photographers, designers, clothing manufacturers, arts businesses and students from Belmont High School's AP Arts classes.
Artitude was the idea of the newly-formed Think Big/Think Belmont, a non-profit comprised of Belmont business owners committed to make the town's Cushing Square the “go-to” shopping and dining destination for people from surrounding towns.
