The Soul of James Brown Jr. at Payson Park Tonight

A favorite each year, the Godson of the Godfather of Soul will perform tonight around 6:30 p.m.

They were rained out in June by are back to rock the Belmont evening as annual favorites James Brown, Jr and the HouseRockers will be in concert tonight, Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Payson Park Music Festival beginning around 6:30 p.m..

The godson of the Godfather of Soul,  James Brown,  James Brown Jr. and his veteran Boston musicians – who have backed such international stars as Herb Reed, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, The Chi-Lites and Al Jarreau – will perform their brand of soul and rock borrowing heavily from the James Brown songbook.

The concert is free and suitable for all ages at Payson Park located a few blocks off Belmont Street at the intersection of Elm Street. There is off-street parking at the park and it is also accessible by the Number 73 (Waverly Square) bus line from Harvard Station.

The concert is sponsored by East Boston Savings Bank.
