Belmont Under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Thunderstorm and possible flooding from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

At 5:39 p.m., the National Weather Service in Taunton issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 9 p.m. in Belmont and southern Middlesex county. The Belmont area can expect isolated showers and severe thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning is issued when weather radar indicate a strong thunderstorm is producing dangerously large hail or high winds, capable of causing significant damage.

The NWS has also issued a flood advisory which means that river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or imminent.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
