Subway is Open ... Next Week

They were making sandwiches on Leonard Street but it was just a dry run for Subway's opening by Aug. 1.

Orders were being taken and sandwiches made. Foot-long buffalo chicken and veggie delite subs were served to a line of customers in the new Subway Restaurant in Belmont Center.

But don't go rushing over to the former TCBY store at 59A Leonard St. for your favorite menu item just yet. The customers in the store were from the town's Fire and Police departments and employees from nearby firms – all the food was provided for free – who came in as part of employee training before the official public opening early next week, according to franchise owner Chris Cho.

Cho said there are a few minor town permits to be completed and workers will need to go through a few more "dry runs" before everything is ready for the opening around Aug. 1.
