Summer + Hot Day = Lemonade

Washington Street sisters discovers lemonade sells.

Dad helped with the sign "a bit" and mom sat nearby but putting up and manning the lemonade stand on Washington Street near the Chenery Middle School on Sunday, July 7, that was the business plan for sisters Emily and Katrina McCarthy.

"It was a hot day so we decided to have some fun," said big sister Emily, a 10-year-old (who did the pouring) who will have an extremely short walk to school this coming September when she enters 5th grade at the Chenery while nine-year-old Katrina (who handled the ice) will still be walking down Goden Street to the Wellington Elementary School for another year.

After only 20 minutes in operation, the stand had garnered $2 from customers who paid four bits for lemonade with ice to help survive the 90 degree heat and high humidity.

"We might do it again if it's hot again," said Emily.
