An Escape in the City: The Boiler Room Portland by Tana Jean Goldfields

Tana Jean Goldfields Review

So what if The Boiler Room is a gay bar, I am straight girl but I do not mind.  The place is just oh so relaxing and comfortable.  I can just go to this place and release my stress due to work, grab a snack and a bottle of beer or any liquor I feel like drinking that day.  Sit and relax and go home after resting for a while.  It’s a bar but it is a pretty relaxing place.  The music is not stressful and you can get to choose the music that you like, that’s the beauty of it.  A really great escape but you are still inside the city.  A kind of fun I like.

You can get along with all the people for sure, from the bartenders to waiters and other guests.  People are decent and well-mannered, friendly but not intrusive.  I never went home whenever I pay a visit without having met a new friend.  In fact I am living with my best friend now and guess where I had met him, The Boiler Room of course!  And since the day we met there, we have been friends for life.. oh yes… he is gay.

The music is really cool, they have this jukebox where you can pay and request for the songs you like, they have karaoke nights where there is what they call open mic night.  You can sing along whenever you like.  We do this every Friday night with friends.  Plus the humor and comic in this place is really a good humor and not offensive to anyone.  The problem with some other bars is they make fun of other people just to make some laugh.  And I do not buy it.  Anyway, the lounge features 20 comedians in 2 hours, what more can you ask for??

The food, ohhh I so love the food.  I love the their burgers come with a 1/3lb certified angus beef patty with house spread on a toasted bun and with your choice of fries and tots.  My favorite and I buy all the time, I will never ever get tired of the taste is the classic burger but I order it with extra bacon.  Yes you can do that, you can customize your burger, they have add-ons. I tried other burgers in Portland but I always come back to The Boiler Room’s classic burger, it satisfies me like no other burger can do.
