5 Things You Need to Know Today: August 29

Last night of the Payson Park Music Festival, BAR meeting, Benton reading list contest.

1. In England, they have the final night of the Proms; in Belmont, we have the final night of the Payson Park Music Festival. The 2012 season ends with ‘60s Invasion, a quartet that features music of the 1960’s. Come by the Payson Park Playground around 6:15 p.m. for a groovy time. The concert is sponsored by Bay State Charitable Foundation, East Cambridge Savings Bank and Brothers Pizza and Grill.

2. promotes dialogue, awareness, and understanding about prejudice and celebrates diversity in Belmont. Tonight's meeting, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Flett Room of the , is open to the public.

3. Only two days left to enter the All Grades Summer Reading Contest at the Complete your reading lists and and return them to the Benton – at the corner of Old Middlesex and Oakley – either today, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 30. Lists may be given to the librarian or put it through the slot in the front door. The person in each grade who has read the most books will receive a prize. Come by today Thursdays, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

4. Duplicate Bridge Club meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at theat 266 Beech St. Every Wednesday the club holds American Contact Bridge League-sanctioned games. All are welcome to play. Cost is $5. Phone: 339-223-6484 for more information.
