5. On this day in 1764, Earl Grey, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was born. Yes, the tea is named after Grey who had blend speciality made by a Chinese mandarin for him to suit the water at Howick Hall, the family seat in Northumberland, in an effort to offset the preponderance of lime in the local water.
