5 Things You Need to Know Today: October 19

Brownsberger at the Beech, Story time at the Benton, and a triple header at the High School.

1. State Sen. Will Brownsberger will hold office hours from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech St. All residents are welcome to visit with Brownsberger during this time to discuss issues, ask for help in dealing with state agencies, or talk about any other topic of concern.

2. At 10:30 a.m., the Benton Library – the town's all volunteer library – is hosting Friday Morning Story Time for children 3 through 5 led by Denise Patnod. Parents or caregivers must be in attendance. Registration is not required. The library is open every Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

3. Well-loved local musician Liz Buchanan performs original songs and traditional favorites for the toddler set beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library.

4. Come see the Belmont High School Girls' Swimming clinch a share of the Middlesex League championship when they take on Stoneham High at 4 p.m. in the pool at the Wenner Field House in the High School. At the same time in the gym, Belmont Girls Volleyball meets Reading High School. Then head over to Harris Field to see Belmont High School Football take on unbeaten Reading High School at 6 p.m. And remember to wear pink!

5. Yoga, taught by professional instructors, is being held this morning from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 582 Pleasant St, in Gardiner Hall, at the back of the church. $10. All levels welcome just bring your own mat if you can. $6 per child for child care. All proceeds benefit Plymouth Nursery School.
