5 Things You Need to Know Today: January 11

"Brideshead" at the Beech, basketball at Belmont High and being silly at the Benton.

1. It will be strawberry and cream as Belmont Public Library's Senior Book Discussion Group will be meeting at 11 a.m. at the Beech Street Center to discuss this month's selection: "Brideshead Revisited," by Evelyn Waugh. Don't forget to bring Aloysius.

2. The 4-3 Reading High School Rockets visit Wenner Field House to take on our Belmont High School Boys' Basketball team. Lift off starts at 7 p.m. 

3. Playtime is a drop-in, informal play group for toddlers and preschoolers that meets in the Children's Room of the Belmont Public Library from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. It's where both children and adults can meet new friends. Call the Children's Room at 617-993-2880 with any questions.

4. It's another Friday morning filled with Fun Nature & Animal Stories at the Benton Library. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., Denise Patnod leds the reading and craft activities for children between 3 and 5 years old. So come join the Benton Library staff and learn, listen and be silly! Registration is not required but parents and/or caregivers must attend.

5. Yoga, taught by professional instructors, is being held this morning from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 582 Pleasant St, in Gardiner Hall, at the back of the church. $10. All levels welcome just bring your own mat if you can. $6 per child for child care. All proceeds benefit Plymouth Nursery School.
