First of Two Joey's Park Community Input Meetings Today

To be held at the Winn Brook gym in the afternoon.

The Friends of Joey’s Park is hosting the first of two community input meetings today to review and discuss the design for the new playground located adjacent to the Winn Brook Elementary School.

The first meeting is to day from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Winn Brook Elementary School's gym and will include a brief presentation of the design plan at 2:30 p.m. and again at 3:15 pm.

The second meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 15 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Winn Brook's cafeteria and will include a brief presentation at 7 p.m.

The design for the new Joey’s Park incorporates ideas offered by Winn Brook Elementary School students. The students met with architects from the firm Play By Design in September during a special Design Day.

That month, approximately 1,000 walkers raised more than $50,000 to build the new playground which is scheduled to be constructed on the Columbus Day weekend 2013.

"Children look at this design, point to the features they requested and have a sense of ownership," said Friends of Joey’s Park Co-Chair Diane Miller.

"We’re now looking forward to hearing input from the rest of the community."

The public is also invited to view the design plan at www.joeyspark.org

Comments can be emailed to feedback@joeyspark.org.
