Homer House Holiday Dec. 15,16

Belmont Woman's Club's William Flagg Homer House will open its doors for singing, bake and green sale and merriment.

The Belmont Woman’s Club invites residents and visitors to town to celebrate the holiday season at the Winslow Homer Holiday House, Dec. 15 and 16, at the William Flagg Homer House, 661 Pleasant St.

The 1853 Homer House, located at 661 Pleasant St. across from Town Hall, will welcome the public for music, merrymaking, and mansion walks. The dining room was set out with the house's best china and stockings will be hung on the mantle above the fireplace. 

This year, a Winslow Homer Room will feature an exhibit of the one-time Belmont resident and great American artist's early illustrations of early Victorian winter pastimes such as skating, horse-drawn sleighing and sledding.

Belmont Girl Scout troops will sing carols on Saturday and Sunday, and the Community Youth Orchestra string ensemble, led by Debra Thoresen, will perform on Saturday at 1 p.m.  

A holiday bake and greens sale and a visit from Santa on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.m, will round out the festivities.

Hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 adults and $3 children, with no charge for children five years and younger.  For information, please call 617-484-4892 or visit the Club's website
