Midnight (Shopping) Madness Tonight in Belmont Center

Second annual holiday shopping bargain spree starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until midnight.

Missed the shopping masses on Black Friday? Well, try a more neighborly approach to holiday shopping tonight as Belmont Center retailers will open their doors all night long  during the beginning at 6 p.m.

Rather then battling the crowds, take your time and enjoy the hot cider, seasonal treats, music and merriment, as local shoppers will have the chance to find sales and markdowns from some of their favorite stores along Leonard Street.

Not only will there be a spirit of the holiday season at the festive community-based event, Midnight Madness supports the local economy, businesses like Bessie Blue — one of three local recipients of a Boston Magazine Best of Boston Award — have seized the opportunity to give back to their loyal customers.

"It was a nice way for the local community to come together and support the stores in their own back yard while receiving what seams to be an ever needed savings," said Lee Gaston, owner of Bessie Blue.

"By shopping locally, customers also receive a significant personal touch rather than the distant and obscure shopping experience in Malls and on-line," she said.

Starting at 6 p.m. and running through midnight, participating businesses – which will be serving cider, treats and even Champagne – will be offering savings with additional markdowns each hour. Discounts started at at around 5 percent off and grew every hour or so until the stroke of Midnight with most stores going up to about 2o percent to 25 percent off.
