Patch Picks: Some Father's Day Ideas

Things to do with Dad on his day this Sunday.

Each week, Belmont Patch highlights editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off, and more in our Thursday feature called Patch Picks.

We've looked at great places to watch sporting events, romantic restaurants and non-profits. This week, we want to know from you — What are some of the best ways to celebrate Father's Day?

• Belmont does have a growing Father's Day tradition: For the past decade, dads and everyone else have laced up their running shoes and paced themselves over 3.1 miles at the annual taking place at the Belmont High School's Harris Field at 9:30 a.m. One of the race prizes is, of course, a father/son division.

• If your dad likes beer, what better place to say "it's your day" then a great beer and there is no better place to purchase some of the best craft beers in the world then Belmont's own at 51 Leonard St. in the heart of Belmont Center. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday - Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. How about a Lionshead Pilsner?

• Want to get fancy? The outstanding restaurant at 50 Leonard St. is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. They are serving their spring menu and they have an outstanding wine list.
