Question of the Day: What Do You Love about Fall?

We want your opinion.

We've turned the season's page from summer to fall as the Autumnal Equinox occurred this morning. Cooler nights and the sun setting earlier and earlier — it's hard to deny the fact that autumn is nearly upon us.

So as we begin to bid goodbye to summer and try not to think about that other New England season that's not far away (hint: it comes before spring), let's look ahead to the loveliness of fall for today's question.

Today we want to know what you're looking forward to this season. Do you enjoy the beautiful fall foliage? Are you all ready to go apple picking? Can you almost taste that first slice of pumpkin pie? What do you love about fall?

So, what do you love about the fall?

September and October are my favorite months. I like the feeling of being on the cusp, sometimes having a choice, sometimes not being able to predict. Perhaps kind of like the start of a school year? It's still often warm enough to wear shorts, but sometimes I need a jacket. When going to lunch, I still consider eating inside or outside. I see evidence of "deeper" fall (fading trees and flowers), yet still hear crickets at night. People are thinking about fall and winter things (school, World Series (fading hopes for the Sox?), etc.) but summer is still fresh.

Autumn is my favorite season for beautiful weather (not too hot, not too cold), and beautiful leaves (and fall flowers too). Everything is more cheerful, with apple picking, Halloween, Thanksgiving around the corner.

Where is Fall? Still feels like July to me. Enough with the humidity - and bring on the cool, crisp days!

No kidding, Lisa, At last this past week. A week or two ago, it was quite chilly and smelled like fall. Now it's humid and sticky. ;o) I'm looking forward to the autumn breezes.
