Sunday in the Dark With Municipal Light
'Lights out' has a different meaning for about 400 residents.
It's winter, it's snowed and that combination assisted in knocking the lights out in Belmont for about five percent of customers of the Belmont Municipal Light Department on Sunday, Jan. 6.
The power outage occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. and was concentrated in the Waverley Square area, according to the Light Department's Jennifer Santoro, lasting for about 90 minutes for some but the majority of customers affected had their power restored within the first 30 minutes.
The blackout, which affected a little more than 400 customers, was caused when an underground cable failed.
