¡Felicidades! Gustazo Cuban Cafe Is Belmont's Sandwich Place

Newcomers, Vicky Lee's go one, two among voters in Belmont Patch's Best of contest.

They have been in town for less than a year but came out on top in this week's Best of Patch poll looking for the best place in Belmont for sandwiches and wraps.

"Oh, that's fantastic. That's lovely," said co-owner Patricia Estorino.

"I know a lot of the places that we competed with are so well known so it's a great surprise," she said.

And voters know what to look for at the eatery located at the intersection of Belmont and School streets.

Gustazo has the "best cuban pork sandwich ever! Refreshing to see and taste! Great work, great restaurant," commented Nick Zakharoff.

What Zakharoff and others are talking about is the Pan con Lechon, the slow-roasted pork sandwich with mojo and avocado-pineapple salad for $8.50.

Gustazo received a quarter of every vote with long-time favorite in second.

Harrier Brian Rogers had only a single word for third place Silk Road BBQ, the roadside Central Asian BBQ stand on Concord Avenue: "Yum!"
