Winter Storm Warning in Effect Through Sunday 8 a.m.

Winter-like conditions could bring about heavy snowfall; an advisory is in effect since 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather warning for much of the state beginning at 5 p.m. today, Saturday, Oct. 29, in preparation for an early-season winter storm that could dump as much as five inches of heavy, wet snow to parts of the state accompanied by strong, damaging winds.

The warning will remain in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday, and has been issued for portions of Middlesex County, including Cambridge.

"Wet snow and strong wind gusts will bring the potential for tree damage and scattered power outages," the NWS reported Saturday. "Untreated roadways may become snow covered and slippery."

If the power is out, call theat 617-993-2800 to report the outage.
