Education Under Fire: Powerful Film Profiling the Plight of Baha'is in Iran
EDUCATION UNDER FIRE:
PROFILING THE PLIGHT OF BAHA'IS IN IRAN
The Belmont / Watertown chapter of Amnesty International is showing the film Education Under Fire, which profiles the plight of Baha’is in Iran who have been prohibited from seeking higher education. Despite the imprisonment of professors and administrators for simply trying to teach, the semi-underground Baha’i Institute for Higher Education offers the only chance for university-level education.
Baha’is are subjected to systematic persecution, including arrests, torture, and execution, simply for refusing to recant their beliefs.
The film will be followed by a discussion with Moderator Tim Wood, a member of the Baha’i community, and Nikan Milani and Mojdeh Rohani, who will offer first hand accounts.
