SteveSongs JDRF Benefit Concert THIS Friday!

On Friday, March 21 there will be a Concert Fundraiser to benefit the JDRF with SteveSongs who serves as co-host of the PBS Kids Preschool destination which airs nationally. The concert, which will be at the Belmont Day School, is being organized by a local family – the Siekmans – whose daughter Lindsey was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 3. She's now 12 and they want to give back to the community. The family hopes the event will help other families who may be receiving similar diagnosis for their child while celebrating with the community at large with some seriously fun music. Tickets are available at http://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR?fr_id=3598&pg=entry

T1D is anautoimmune disease that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks anddestroys the beta cells in the pancreas, which produce insulin, a hormone essential to turning food into energy. T1D strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet or lifestyle. It is a life altering disease that impacts millions of people, requiring 24/7 blood sugar testing, carbohydrate counting, and insulin injections.

JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
