Pink Was the New Black at Belmont High School's Pinkapalooza

Annual fundraiser to assist in finding a cure to breast cancer brought in more than $400.

The new fashionable black at Belmont High School this past Friday was ... pink as the hallways and classrooms were awash in the color as the school celebrated its third annual Pinkapalooza, a day to wear pink to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.

This year’s Pinkapalooza raised not only spirits of everyone in the school, but also  more than $400 for the American Cancer Society’s efforts in education, research, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

While some students arrived at school in costumes which included pink-footed pajamas, furry slippers, and even a tutu, others put together whatever pink
wardrobe items they owned while many sported the 2013 BHS “Think Pink” T-shirts which will continue to be on sale for $10 through the end of October.

Students and staff had the option of donating to the cause in order to be eligible for door prizes donated by many local merchants. Gift cards were contributed by Aram’s Café, Bessie Blue, bodytrio, Gregory’s House of Pizza, Ohlin’s Bakery, Patou, Quebrada Baking Company, Rancatore, Revolve, Roberts Salon, Stone Hearth Pizza, Subway. In addition, a High School family donated a Celtics ticket.
