What's Open and Closed in Belmont on the 4th of July

It is Independence Day across the country but for some businesses in Belmont, it's just another day on the job.

Belmont town offices and the public library: Closed

Underwood Pool: Open from 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Trash/recycling pick-up: Delayed one day. So Thursday's pick up will be done on Friday.

State offices: Closed.

Federal offices: Closed.

US Postal Service: Post offices closed, no mail delivery.

MBTA: Subway and bus services are on a Sunday schedule, but the subways will be running a rush hour service for customers heading to and from the Boston Pops concert including more cars on the Red Line to Harvard Square and Alewife. After 9:30 p.m., all service will be free.

The Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail line that services Belmont Center and Waverley stations is operating on a Saturday schedule with the last trains leaving North station at 11:30 p.m. 

Retail stores: Open at owner’s discretion. CVS will be open today.

Restaurants: Up to the owner; Comella's is closed today but Dunkin' Donuts will be running as schedule.

Starbucks: The store on Leonard Street in Belmont Center opens at 5:30 a.m. but is closing early at 6 p.m.; the Cushing Square store on Trapelo Road will also be closing early.

Supermarkets: Open; a regular day at Shaw's on Trapelo Road in Waverley Square.

Convenience stores: Open.

Banks: Closed.

Stock market: Closed.
