The Snow By-Law and Town Politicians

It is quite clear that many Town pols have little to no PRACTICAL experience with clearing snow. It is quite evident in several provisions of the By-Law.

For example, on a corner lot, there is no requirement that area connecting the sidewalk to the street be cleared. And, that is where the hedegerow plowed up bt the DPW are often the biggest and highest. I'd like to hear how a person is supposed to cross that Town-created barrier, without going into the street. So, in fact, the By-Law virtually forces the behavior it is purported to remedy. - - - - -

In any area with sidewalks, but without a tree-lawn, the Town plows snow ONTO the sidewalk from the road - - - and NOT freshly fallen snow - - - hard packed ice/frozen slush. Worse, this continues for days after a snowfall, requireing property owners to clear, and re-clear, and re-clear the walks. Just HOW MANY TIMES is clearing required? There is no apparent limit. - - - - -

I would like BOTH the candidates for Selectmen actually have to go out in the freezing cold, with a strong wind typical of the aftermath of a storm, and clear a sidewalk or two.  AFTER they have worked all day to earn a living. That's what the proles have to do!  - - - - -

It is clear the 'ruling elite' have never had to shovel out before sunrise to get to work on time; then come home from work, tired, and have to re-shovel your driveway to get your car off the street, because the Town has plowed you in; then be faced with clearing the sidewalk.

This By-Law was passed purportedly 'for the children'. As usual, the burdens of the minority (those with young kids) have been placed on the majority (those without kids), and is yet another result of the 'sense of entitlement' culture run amok..
