Update: Accident Closes Concord Ave. From Mill to Pleasant Streets, Should Reopen by Noon

Motorists should seek alternate routes.

UPDATE 11 a.m.: Belmont Light crews are finishing repairs to a light pole that was damaged with a late-model Mazda ran into the pole around 9 a.m. 

The accident occurred in the twisting "chicane" section of Concord Avenue as the roadway goes downhill from the Belmont Day School to Pleasant Street. The pole was located adjacent to the rear of the Homer House.

Belmont Light crews at the scene said the accident did not effect power to homes in the area. They said the replacement of the pole would be completed by approximately noon at which time the roadway will be open to traffic.

Original post: The Belmont Police Department has sent out a tweet that an motor vehicle accident has closed Concord Avenue between Pleasant and Mill Street due to a motor vehicle accident and motorists should seek alternate routes.
