Belmont Man Arrested In Waltham Hit-And-Run

A 23-year-old Belmont man is under arrest for allegedly hitting a Bentley University student and fleeing the scene of the accident, according to Waltham Police.

Eric Romero, 23, of Belmont, faces one charge of leaving the scene of a crash after causing personal injury stemming from a Sept. 16 incident in which Romero allegedly struck the student at Chesnut and Hall streets, according to Waltham Police Sgt. William Gallant.

The (White River Junction, Vt.) Valley News identified the victim as 18-year-old Zachary Pollard of Lebanon, NH.

Police found Romero after searching several location, Gallant said. Police used debris from the car to identify the license plate and owner, Gallant said. From there, Waltham officers went to Romero's home where he allegedly admitted to hitting the victim with his car, Gallant said. 

Gallant hailed the officers for their dilligent work.
