Belmont Police Seek Public's Help ID'ing Hit and Run Driver

Elderly pedestrian hit around 10 a.m. at the corner of Belmont and School streets.

The Belmont Police is asking the help of the public to identify the operator of a motor vehicle that struck an elderly pedestrian in the crosswalk on Belmont Street near School Street today, Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The pedestrian was struck just before 10 a.m. while crossing Belmont Street. The suspect vehicle had turned left (east) from School Street onto Belmont Street just prior to hitting the pedestrian.

The offending vehicle stopped and the operator exited his car but left the scene just prior to police arriving.

Witnesses describe the vehicle as gray or silver sedan similar to a Lexus GX or Volvo XC90.
