Wet roads contributed to a two-vehicle accident between a car and a motorcycle at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Common Street, snarling morning rush hour traffic in and out of Belmont Center.
A motorcyclist was taken on a back brace by Watertown Fire Rescue to an area hospital after the man was initially treated by Belmont Fire crews who responded to a call from Belmont Police. The accident victim appeared conscious and communicating with Fire Department personnel. The driver of the car, which was stopped directly across from the motorcycle in the outbound lane, did not appeared injured.
Initial reports suggest that the heavy early morning rain caused either visibility or handling problems that led to the high-powered cycle spilling onto the roadway.
A full report on the accident will be reported in Belmont Patch in the near future.
