One Suspect Arrested in Connection with Tyler Zanco’s Murder

The other suspect is still at large.

One of the men wanted in connection with Tyler Zanco’s murder has been caught.

Taylor Poulin, 21, of Newton, was arrested Wednesday evening in Windham, Maine, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and local police from Windham and Westbrook, Maine, according to a joint release Friday from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Waltham police.

Poulin was found in Maine based on information obtained by Waltham police and Massachusetts State Police during their investigation.

He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlicensed possession of a firearm and conspiracy to violate drug laws. He is expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Friday in Maine’s Portland District Court on fugitive from justice charges.

The alleged triggerman, Domingo Mendes, 22, of Belmont, is still at large. He is wanted on the following charges: murder, possession of a firearm and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Mendes, who is about 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding Mendes is urged to contact Waltham police at 781-314-3607 or State Police detectives at 781-897-6600.

Zanco, a Waltham High senior and wrestling captain, was shot shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, March 20, in the Gardencrest Apartments parking lot on Middlesex Circle in Waltham. He was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
