Police Seek Information About Incident Concerning a Chenery Student

A man in a white SUV encountered fifth grader after dismissal on the first day of school.

Belmont Police is investigating an incident that occurred yesterday on the first day of the school year, Sept. 4, at 1:20 p.m. in the area of Payson Road. 

A fifth grader who was walking home from Chenery Middle School reported that a man in a white SUV waved him over to his car. The SUV was described as having a spare tire on the back with a black tire cover.

After becoming upset from the encounter, the fifth grader told police he was assisted home by a woman. 

The operator of the SUV Was described as a iight-skinned black man in his 30's, with short, black hair and a thin beard. He was wearing a long-sleeve white dress shirt with a black tie.

Belmont Police is interested in speaking to anyone who may have infomation pertaining to this incident. We would especially like to speak with the operator of the SUV and the woman who assisted the child to his home.
