Asst. DA Lawn Readies Jump into Special Senate Race

Suffolk ADA Shelia Lawn, sister of Watertown Rep. John Lawn, opens campaign account.

Sheila Lawn, assistant Suffolk County district attorney and sister of Watertown state Rep. John Lawn, has opened a campaign account to support a bid for the vacant Senate district last held by Steven Tolman, who departed last month to run the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, according to the State House News Service.

Lawn, a Boston resident living in the Brighton neighborhood, would be the second Boston-based candidate in the race, joining attorney in a crowded field of Democratic contenders vying for the seat in a January special election with a Dec. 13 primary.

In addition to Lawn and Schofield, state Reps. of Belmont and Watertown's have launched bids for the seat. Former Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts President also declared his candidacy last week, and former Watertown Council President Clyde Younger has said he intends to run.
