Belmont Preparing For Second Round of Community Preservation Grants

Community Preservation gave out nearly $1 million in funds to groups earlier this year.

After giving away nearly $1 million in grants to nearly a dozen Belmont organizations and groups in May, Belmont's Community Preservation Committee is preparing for the second round of grants for 2013-14.

With examples of funding this year including $72,000 to repair and weatherize Belmont Town Hall's "front" doors, $10,000 to lay better pipes to improve irrigation at Rock Meadow Community Gardens and $147,000 to purchase and install underground wiring as part of the electrical service upgrade of Belmont Village, the CPC is seeking worthy projects to fund in this cycle related to:

  • acquire, create and preserve open space;
  • acquire, preserve, rehabilitate and restore historic resources;
  • acquire, create and preserve land for recreation use;
  • create, preserve and support community housing; and
  • rehabilitate and restore open space and land for recreational use and community housing acquired or created using monies from the fund.

Applicants must submit ten copies of the Preliminary Application to the Community Preservation Committee by Sept. 6.
