Town Accountant Hagg Leaving

The town's chief numbers person will not be seeking reappointment.

After finishing her ninth, and likely one of the most difficult, budget process in her tenure, Belmont's Town Accountant Barbara Hagg is calling it a day as she announced to town officials that she would be leaving her position at the end of June.

Hagg's departure will require Belmont town officials to seek a new accounts chief for  only the second time since 1992 when Steve Szabo was appointed to the position.

In this year's budget process, Ralph Jones, the chairman of Board of Selectmen, praised both Hagg and Tom Younger, the town's administrator, for creating an initial town budget in December that used conservative projections of state aid and other revenue sources allowing the town to reach its budgetary targets without wild speculations in meeting those goals.
