Town Administrator Younger Finalist For Winchester Job

Lifelong resident has been running town's day-to-day operations for six years.

Belmont's Thomas Younger is one of four finalists to fill the same position in Winchester.

“We are recommending these applicants in part for the experiences they bring to the table in basic town managerial functions such as budgeting, contract negotiation and capital maintenance and management,” said Search Committee Chairman Bob Joy.

A lifelong Belmont resident who lives on Wiley Road, Younger has been running the town's day-to-day operations since 2005. Prior to coming home to Belmont, Younger served as the Town Administrator in North Reading for 10 years.

If selected, Younger will be following fellow resident before taking the Winchester job.  

The Winchester Board of Selectmen will begin reviewing and interviewing the finalists. After holding one-hour interviews next week, the board plans on spending the week of Oct. 17 visiting each of the candidates’ towns. And the week of Oct. 31, the four candidates will stop by Winchester to meet town employees and officials.
