Belmont High Names National Merit Finalists

Will be going on to compete for a Merit Scholar title.

Belmont High School Principal Dan Richards on Feb. 12 named four seniors who were selected as National Merit finalists

Anqi WanEvan GreenBenjamin Goodman and Katherine Zolner join 15,000 students from around the country with more than half of the finalists going on to compete for a Merit Scholar® title and a portion of the National Merit Scholarship worth more than $32 million.

Last year, Green and Goodman were member of the National Economic Challenge team that won the national championships.

About 1.5 million juniors at more than 22,000 high schools nationwide entered the 2013 competition. Honors for the award are based on “exceptional academic ability,” and “potential for success in rigorous college studies.” the organization said in a statement.
