'Belmont Idol 2013' Tonight at Belmont High

Annual talent contest to be held in school's auditorium at 7 p.m.

Cheering crowds, crazy fans, big talented acts. All that will be missing is Simon Cowell's snide remarks as tonight at 7 p.m., Belmont High School's auditorium will be filled as a dozen acts compete to become "Belmont Idol 2013."

And this year will be the best-of-the-best as acts including vocalists, musicians and speciality performers needed to pass an audition process in December to make it on the stage.

As always, this year's show is open to the public and will be a family-friendly event so bring the youngsters.

Last year's show saw the first rapper to perform, a seven-member jazz group, dancers, soloists and pop, folk and rock groups.

Tickets are $5 for students and kids and $7 for adults with all proceeds benefiting diversity programming at Belmont High School.
