Christmas in November as High School to Stage 'A Christmas Carol'

Auditions called for children parts in Performing Arts Company's production.

The Christmas spirits will come six weeks early to town as Artistic Director, Chris Brindley, announced that Belmont High School Performing Arts Company will present Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' on November 8, 9 and 10.

The production is adapted by director Rick Lombardo which was used for five years at the New Rep Theatre in Watertown and now featured as part of the main stage season at San Jose Rep where Lombardo currently resides as artistic director. It. The production will include singing, musicians, and children from our community.

Lombardo’s adaptation of Dickens' classic holiday story is a feast for the senses full of traditional Victorian carols, lavish period costumes and actors playing over a dozen traditional instruments.

Audition

Brindley has also announced auditions for several young children, grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 who will be part of the production.

Parts include: 

• Young Boy

• Fan (Scrooge’s Sister)

• Young Scrooge

• Tiny Tim

• Two additional ensemble tracks

All parts will require singing and acting.

Auditions will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.

Actors should prepare one minute of a Christmas Carol/ Holiday Song to a capella, and read either the male or female child side, which will be e-mailed to you along with an audition form when you register for an audition.

All interested parties should e-mail Chris Brindley directly to set up an audition. 

Rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday, usually in the afternoons, with some evening rehearsals. All rehearsals will be held at Belmont High School. Flexibility with the rehearsal schedule is a must.
