Help Cheer on Belmont's Quiz Kids Sunday

It is Belmont vs. Arlington at this weekend taping of Channel 2's "High School Quiz Show."

It's Belmont vs. Arlington this weekend. But the players will not be shooting a puck or sinking a basket; these kids will be showing off how smart they are.

is scheduled to tape its brainy tussle with neighboring Arlington High School this Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in the first-round, winner-take-all, playoffs in the third season of WGBH 2's "High School Quiz Show."

"High School Quiz Show" is a single-elimination bracketed academic tournament, featuring qualifying matches, quarterfinals and semifinals, all leading up to a Massachusetts championship match.

All questions are aligned with the Massachusetts high school curriculum standards in subjects including literature, history, science, and math, as well as current events and general knowledge.

And the show is looking for audience members from Belmont – age 7 and older – to show their support by signing up to be part of our live audience that day. The show is taped at WGBH Studios at One Guest St. in Brighton, just over the Charles River from Watertown.
