McKenzie, Phelan Selected as Finalists for Belmont Superintendent Post

Each received an unanimous vote from the committee.

Dr. Anne McKenzie, executive director of the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative and John Phelan, assistant superintendent at the Milton Public Schools were selected by the Belmont School Committee as the two finalist to become the next Belmont District School Superintendent at a meeting at the Chenery Middle School Monday night, Dec. 9.

Both candidates each received a unanimous vote from the six committee members to return of another round of interviews.

Andrew Stephens, principal of Duxbury High School, was removed from the list of candidates by the committee.

McKenzie and Phelan will be interviewed by the School Committee on Wednesday, Dec. 11 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Large Community Room at Chenery Middle School, 95 Washington St.

The committee will then make their final selection on Tuesday, Dec. 17. While the committee hopes to finalize a contract by year's end, the impending holidays could move that date into the New Year, said Laurie Graham, School Committee chair.
