Softball's Bad Patch Continues

Today's game supports American Cancer Society's "Coaches VS Cancer" program.

After winning their first five games, the high hopes that the Belmont High School Girls' Softball team have to make the post season have faded a bit as the team has dropped nine straight games.

The Marauders faced the meat of the Middlesex League and seemed to start out the majority of their games strong, but errors and unearned runs late in the games have been their downfall.

As Senior captain and pitcher Erin Reilly’s remains constant with strikeouts and a minimal number of walks, the big bats the Marauders' carried in the early days have cooled off considerably. Belmont have a below .225 batting average during the current streak.

The Marauders' are hoping to turn things around this week as they host Burlington today at 3:45 p.m. and Arlington on Wednesday under the lights at 6 p.m. and away to Winchester on Friday.

Monday's game against the Red Raiders will be played in support of the American Cancer Society's "Coaches VS Cancer" program. The Belmont High School baseball and softball teams will be wearing purple "Marauders" shirts at their games as their honorary “Striking Out Cancer” Game.
