App Attack! Library Resources on the Go

If you are one of the millions of Americans with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, you can use some of the library’s resources on the go.

If you are one of the millions of Americans with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, you can use some of the library’s resources on the go. We now have apps for Mango Languages, Tutor.com (homework help), and  MorningStar (investment research).

Learn a foreign language using the app from Mango Languages. To get started, go to www.belmont.lib.ma.us and find “Mango Languages” listed on the Databases tab. Log in with your library card number and create a profile. Download the app to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and start learning a foreign language, anytime, anywhere! The app remembers your progress and even lets you take more than one course at a time.

The library also has an app for Tutor.com, providing daily one-on-one tutoring for both children and adults from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Using their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch students can work one-on-one with a tutor and even take a picture of their assignment to share. The tutors can review the file, share a web resource, and text chat with the student. On the iPad, the student and tutor can also use a real-time interactive whiteboard to collaborate on problems together. Adults can get live help with writing a resume, brushing up on an academic subject, or studying for the GED and Citizenship tests. Go to www.belmont.lib.ma.us and click on Tutor.com from the library’s database tab. Create an account, then download the app and connect to a live tutor!

MorningStar’s app is free and does not even ask for your library card! The app works on the iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as BlackBerry and Android. It allows you to create an account to track your portfolio, check on stocks, and suggest investing ideas. Download the app and get started today. For access to more in depth reporting and features, visit the full site called “MorningStar Investment Research Center.” Go to www.belmont.lib.ma.us, and look for Morningstar on the Databases tab.

With smart phones and web enabled mobile devices it’s easy to access your library’s resources from anywhere in the world!

Thanks for this info! I just signed up for the language app and am reviewing my very rusty Spanish. My daughter is starting Greek in preparation for a trip next summer. I didn't know this was available, this is a great resource!
