Back to school time is here, and with that comes the return of Storytimes at the Belmont Public Library! The Jane Gray Dustan Children’s Room has some exciting new changes to our storytime line-up.

Are you a parent or caregiver looking for a free, easy way to spend meaningful time with your baby while meeting other families? We have added a brand new Lapsit especially for infants and pre-walking babies. Enjoy specially selected songs, finger plays, and rhymes that can help deepen the bond between you and your baby and encourage language development and fun interaction. After the program, socialize with other parents and caregivers during a short playtime. This program will be held every Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the library’s Flett Room.

Do you have a four-year-old or a kindergartener that you still want to bring to Storytime? We have a new time for our popular Storycraft for 4’s and 5’s. The program will now be held on Tuesdays at 3:15 p.m in the Flett Room so that even more preschoolers and kindergarteners can come and experience stories, songs, and a simple craft.

Don’t forget our other popular Storytimes! Walkers and toddlers under 24-months are invited to our Storytime for 1’s. Formerly Book Babies, this storytime offers stories, songs, fingerplays, and a special puppet time on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

On Tuesdays we offer our Storytime for 2’s and 3’s.  Due to overwhelming popularity, this storytime is offered both at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Please choose one of these sessions and bring your little ones for stories, songs, and more.  Both programs will take place in the Flett Room.

These additions and changes to our schedule are a result of your feedback!  The children’s room staff conducted a survey in the spring of 2011 to insure that our storytimes were meeting the needs of our families. Please attend one of our programs and let us know what you think. No registration is required.
