Boys' Swimming: Marauders Sweep Past Burlington

Belmont swimmers win 11 of 12 events.

Belmont High School Boys' Swimming took first in 11 out of 12 events to sweep by Burlington High School, 83-79, in the team's first Middlesex League match of the season at Burlington's pool on Thursday, Dec. 19. 

Officials stopped counting Belmont's points after the ninth event as Burlington was trailing by an insurmountable deficit. 

Head Coach Bobby Reardon's squad was led by Andrew Kelley who finished first in the 100 yard backstroke (56.87 seconds) and the 200 intermediate (2:05.01) as well as anchoring the victorious 400 free style relay (3.54.98) with Tom Zembowicz, Ben Ackerson and Ryan Touzijian, and leading off the first event of the evening, the 200 medley (1.56.01) with Owen Luo, Ackerson and Sam Lessin.

Zembowicz took home two individual victories, in the 200 freestyle (2.04.13), the 100 butterfly (59.5) and the 200 free relay (1.43.69) swimming with Yilei Bai,  Lessin and Luo.

Lessin won the 50 free (25.78), Luo the 100 breaststroke (1.14.40) and Touzijian the 500 free (5.45.78). 

Kevin Chen now has two wins in as many meets, placing first in diving event with 130.5 points.

Next up for Belmont is league powerhouse Lexington at home on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 4 p.m.
