(LONG BEACH, CA; July 19, 2012) – Using its beautiful Sycamore trees and lush botanical surroundings as a backdrop, Heartwell Park will incorporate the feel of a Caribbean island getaway when Steel Drum Band, PanJive, performs on July 25th from 6 – 8 pm.
Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske will present the Summer Community Concert to one of Long Beach’s most popular recreational parks, located at 5801 East Park Street, Long Beach, CA.
“Sit back on your lawn chair, close your eyes, listen to the music, and just relax, “ says Councilwoman Schipske. “When the concert is over, you’ll feel like you took a trip to the islands.”
Pan Jive performs a smooth blend of Calypso, Reggae, Ska, Latin, and Contemporary music through the unique island sounds of the “Steel Drum”. Utilizing coconut-sweet rhythms from Trinidad and Jamaica, Pan Jive swings a tropical groove to sensibly compliment the beautiful summer weather of Southern California.
The band will also be performing at Pan American Park on August 5th at 4 pm. “Go to both concerts, and you can go island hopping, “ Schipske adds.
Following the concert, there will be a special movie screening of Disney's "The Muppets". The Port of Long Beach will provide free pizza during the concert, and the Parks Recreation and Marine will give out free popcorn during the movie.
