Belmont Garden Serving Those Residents in Need
Volunteers tend garden at Beth El Temple with the aim of supply the town's food pantry with fresh produce.
Last week, volunteers from the Belmont Food Collaborative and the Belmont Farmers Market came knocking on the door of the Belmont Food Pantry located between the rear of Belmont High School and the MBTA commuter rail tracks.
In their arms was a harvest of zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and Swiss chard, the first delivery to the Pantry from the community garden's four raised beds located on the grounds of Belmont's Beth El Temple Center on Concord Avenue.
The supply of fresh food was the result of gardening through the summer to produce vegetables so that the Pantry's clients can stock up on fresh vegetables, a real treat for those residents in need of assistance.
