Belmont's Joey's Park Nears Completion; Opening Party at 4 PM

More than 300 parents and children worked this morning at the site.

Nearly 300 residents – from an 80-year-old with a powered hand tools to children reducing a mountain of mulch one shovel full at a time – descended on the Winn Brook Elementary School's parking lot this morning, Monday, Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. for the final push to complete the new Joey's Park.

The opening of the new playground – replacing the original 24-year-old wooden structure – is scheduled for 4 p.m. with a town-wide celebration/party.

This morning, kids helped as best they could to fill mulch into wheel-barrows as adults where hurrying to secure planks and equipment throughout the structure.
