Animation Pioneers Celebrated, Pool Design Party, Sing-Along Saturday

Events this weekend in Belmont.

Weston Woods 60th Anniversary celebration featuring Rebecca and Ed Emberley will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Studio Cinema, 376 Trapelo Rd. (except for the 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. programs on Sunday, Nov. 24 which take place at the Beech Street Center266 Beach Street, Belmont)

Belmont World Film's Family Festival celebrates 60 years of animated best loved children's books from Weston Woods Studios with two days of classic and new films, a talk and book signing with Rebecca and Ed Emberley, and free anniversary cake!

New England premieres of Bear Has a Story to Tell, Lemonade in Winter, Creepy Carrots, Cloudette, Hooray for Amanda & Her Alligator, and The Ant & the Grasshopper ($5).

12-1 PM
Mo Willems Film Retrospective
Animated film fun based on the books of the ever-popular Mo Willems, including his Knuffle Bunny trilogy and his other endearing cast of characters ($5).

1:30-3 PM
Special Event - A Visit with Rebecca & Ed Emberley
Rebecca and Ed Emberley talk about their collaborative, creative process and introduce animated versions of their best known picture books, the Caldecott Award winning Drummer Hoff, Chicken Little, The Red Hen, and The Ant & the Grasshopper ($8).

3:30-5 PM
Book Signing and cake with Rebecca & Ed Emberley
Get your favorite Rebecca and Ed Emberley books signed by the authors while enjoying a piece of anniversary cake! Books available for sale on site (free).

• Both adults and children are invited to join the pool designers for an Informal Pool Tour and Discussion on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., beginning at the Assembly Room at the Belmont Public Library. Take a tour of the Underwood Pool like you’ve never seen it before including a view of the mechanics in the pump house. Children will be invited to draw pictures or write down ideas for the pool designers.

• The Belmont Public Library's Saturday Sing-Along Series continues with Jeannie Mack! Enjoy some playful rhymes and songs that are fun for the whole family on Sat., Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. in the library's Assembly Room.
