Go Before It Snows: Family Sing-Along at the Library, Benton Library Holiday Open House and Hockey

Due to the coming inclemant weather beginning on Saturday, it's best to contact the events to see if they are being presented.

• The Belmont Public Library welcomes families to come laugh, sing and dance along to a variety of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa songs at its Saturday Sing-Along with David Polansky on Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. The concert will take place in the library's Assembly Room. Polansky is an award-winning trumpet player, song-writer and composer who adds humor and activity to his shows that will engage all the children – and adults – in your family. 

Powers Music School students showcase the pieces they have been learning during the fall semester on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. The recitals take place at All Saints’ Church, 17 Clark St.

• The Benton Library, Belmont's independent and volunteer-run library, is holding its Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. Join the volunteers to celebrate the season with good company and refreshments. Everyone is welcome. The library is located at 75 Oakley. 

• The Arlington-Belmont Chorale and the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra present their Winter Concert at the First Parish UU of Arlington, 630 Massachusetts Ave. in Arlington on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Works by Thompson, Kramer, Brahms and Schumann will be performed. Admission: $15, Seniors/Students: $10, Children 17 and under: $5.

• The First Baptist Church of Belmont is hosting its annual Holiday Sing on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. in the church sanctuary located at 129 Lexington St. The event will include a special visit by Santa and refreshments. Soloists/carol sing leaders will be Nancy Tutunjian Berger, Amanda Casale and John Marti. Orchestra members are the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church Sandy Kendall, Louise Myers, Jim Nicoloro and Arthur Bakopolus.

• The Belmont High School Boys' Ice Hockey season gets underway against Watertown High at "The Skip" (the 'Skip' Vigilrolo Skating Rink on Concord Ave.) on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. Bundle up.
