Founded in 1973 by Martin Pearlman, Boston Baroque brings Baroque and Classical music to millions of listeners. Boston Baroque's recordings are heard on classical radio stations in the US and Europe. This group is the first permanent Baroque orchestra established in North America, and it presents an annual subscription concert series in Boston that reaches an international audience. Boston Baroque is the resident professional ensemble for Boston University's Historical Performance Program.

The best opera performances I've seen in Boston have been Boston Baroque productions. The shows feel different than other companies' in the area, more comfortable performers, less harried, better rehearsed. Somebody must have charm behind this company to attract real talent and give them a proper platform.
